Leonard L. Dmyterko, 83, of Nanticoke, passed away after a long illness on Friday, Dec. 9th, in the Hospice at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Hospital.
He was born in Nanticoke on September 19, 1928. He was the son of the late John and Mabel Dmyterko of Glen Lyon.

Leonard held the US Military in high esteem and enlisted in the Navy when he was 17. Then he proudly served his country again as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War, where he qualified as Jumpmaster with the 11th Airborne Division.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Verna Karvaski of Nanticoke; his children, Linda DmyterkoYglesias and Bonnie Fallon, both of Brooklyn, NY; his grandchildren, Angela Benfield of New York City and Danielle Yglesias of Edison, NJ; and his great-grandchildren Jacqueline Benfield, who is currently attending the University of Arizona, and Clifford Benfield who is attending high school in NYC. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Thalia Makowski of Glen Lyon, and June Noble of Cabot, Arkansas.
The family will be conducting a private memorial service.
