Dorothy E. J. Schnetter Dox died on May 1st, 2010.

She was born on December 13th, 1915 in Bloomfield, NJ, to the late Henry M. and Edith M. Jacob.

The next 62 years were spent in Verona, NJ where she raised her family, worked as a seamstress, taught Sunday school, served the Board of Trustees, and was ordained an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church.

Dorothy and H. Kermit Schnetter retired to Lancaster County in 1977. After 45 years of marriage, Kermit died in 1981. Dorothy later wed Joseph Dox, who died in 2006. While living in Lancaster, she was a member of the Donegal Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder, and was instrumental in the establishment of the Memorial Garden.

Dorothy is survived by three daughters: Linda Harrington of Old Saybrook, CT; Jane Kerr (John) of North Haledon, NJ; and Amy Levine (Sean Flaherty) of Yardley and Lancaster, PA. Her daughter, Nan Tancke (Henry of Lititz, PA) predeceased her in 2008. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, her brother Arthur Jacob of Marietta, GA, and sister Audrey Wirthlin of Greenville, TN. Her brother, H. Myles Jacob, predeceased her.

A Memorial Garden gathering is scheduled for 1pm on Mothers Day, May 9th, 2010 at the Donegal Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to United Zion Retirement Community, 722 Furnace Hills Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
