Jesse E. Davis

 

Jesse E. Davis, 94, of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Chambersburg Hospital. He was the widower of his loving wife of 69 yrs, Elizabeth.

 

Born in Herman, Nebraska, he was son to the late Jesse E. and Anna (Nelson) Davis.

 

Jesse was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church in Newburg, PA. He loved woodworking, gardening and spend time with his family.

 

During WWII, he was a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corp and served as a cre chief on B-26 bombers where he received the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters.

 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Eldon Davis, Sr.

 

Jesse is survived by his sons, Jack L. Davis and wife Carol, Wesley A. Davis and Timothy C. Davis and wife Sharon; daughter-in-law, Josephine M. Davis, widow of Jerry Sr.; grandchildren, Laura, Brian, Jerry, Jr. and wife Ann, Natalie, Shawn, Nathan, Kelly and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Erin, and Lilly Yarbrough, Kelsey Grooms and Chloe Dietz.

 

A memorial service will be held at the family's convenience.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jesse's church, Hopewell United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 409, Newburg, PA 17240.
