Grover M. “Davey” Davey, 84, of Columbia, passed away December 19, 2017, at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy, after a short illness. Born in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late H.F. Davey and Willie Mae (Newman) Davey. He was the husband of Eleanor (Williams) Davey.

Davey graduated from Bristol High School in Bristol, TN.

A Korean War Veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force where he met his wife of 62 years, Eleanor. He was discharged in 1955.

Davey retired from ITT Engineered Valves in Lancaster in 1998.

In his younger years he enjoyed pitching in the Men’s Fast Pitch Softball Leagues and he helped coach his grandson’s CBAA baseball team in Columbia, PA. A committed husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he was a friend to all he met. He will be truly missed.

Surviving besides his wife, Eleanor, is a daughter, Denise Davey Gentzler; 5 grandchildren, Jason (Whitney) Springer, Joel (Emily) Springer, Alaina (Jeremy Easton) Springer, Ryan (Ashley) Gentzler, and Matthew (Stacey) Gentzler; 6 great-grandchildren, Molly, Carly, Reynolds, Spencer, Mason and Aubree; and a sister, Elaine (Mark) Moody of Union, OH. He is also survived by uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins living in TN, OH, HI, PA and NJ.

Friends and family are invited to attend Davey’s Memorial Service on Saturday, January 6, 2018, 1:00 p.m. Family will receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at First Assembly of God, 4696 Breezyview Rd, Columbia, PA with the Rev. Robert Drescher officiating. Also following the memorial service there will be a luncheon at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 23 S 6th St., Columbia, PA.

Memorial contributions to First Assembly of God Church and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family would like to thank the staff at General Hospital and Hospice & Community Care for the amazing care they all gave Davey.
