Glenn R. Grimm, 92, of Harrisburg, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2013, in the presence of Dorothy, his loving wife of 32 years.

He was born in Arpin, Wisconsin, the son of Emma and Albert Grimm. He was a 1939 graduate of Marshfield High School, Marshfield, WI, and received a Bachelors Degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in 1960.

He was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is also survived by his daughter Gwendolyn and her husband James Dood, of Newaygo, MI, his daughter Candice Grimm of Camp Hill, PA, and his son Thomas Grimm, of Bangkok, Thailand; his granddaughters Kimberly Rawlings (Rick), Michelle Curnow (Brian), Megan Barnes (Jeff), and great grandchildren Alicia, Heather, Emily, Andrew, Rebekah, and Aspen, all of Michigan .

Glenn joined the National Guard while in high school, and served in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II in several theatres. Among many other honors, he was awarded the Silver Star medal for gallantry in action while on Biak Island, Papua, New Guinea. After completing 20 years of military service, he then became Manager of Information Systems Command at Fort Indiantown Gap, retiring in 1990.

Glenn was active in many organizations over the years including the Hershey Pee Wee Hockey League, Boy Scouts, BSA Leadership Council, Bread for the World, Paxton Creek Watershed Assoc, NGOZI Inc, and the Community Checkup Center of South Harrisburg. He was a long term member of the Capital Area Green Belt Assoc, and was active in reclaiming and maintaining the Green Belt since 1990.

Glenn loved being in nature. He spent many enjoyable hours hiking in Pennsylvania's state parks. He loved ballroom dancing, gardening, woodworking, birding, and was a true conservationist.
Cremation services have been held privately. A memorial "Celebration of Life" service for Glenn will be held in October, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Genesis Farm, an ecological learning center at 41A Silver Lake Rd, Blairstown, NJ 07825; or to Hospice of Central Pa, 1320 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, Pa 17110.
