Philip H. Daubert, 93, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Hershey Medical Center.

Born in Milton, he was the son of the late S. Grant and Anna Lloyd Daubert. He was the husband of the late Joan R. Faust Daubert, who died in 1977. He retired in 1988 from Elizabethtown Area School District, where he was high school head football coach from 1952-1957, high school principal 1952-1966, supervising principal from 1966-1967 and superintendent from 1967-1988.

He graduated from Milton High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, NC where he played football and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. He earned a Master's degree from Bucknell University in Lewisburg in School Administration and Supervision.

He had served in the United States Navy during World War II, stationed in New York City. Prior to moving to Elizabethtown, he was a teacher of business and history and head football coach at Derry Township High School in Yeagertown.

In 1957 he received the Lancaster County Sportscasters and Sportswriters Award for outstanding service and coaching achievements. In the fall of that year he coached the only undefeated, untied football team in Elizabethtown Area High School history. In 1964 he received the Croft Award, which honored him as one of the top five principals in the United States, based on leadership and the implementation of new and innovative ideas in secondary education. Elizabethtown Moose Lodge named him Elizabethtown's Citizen of the Year in 1967 for meritorious service. In 1999 the new Elizabethtown Area High School gymnasium was named in his honor. He was also a member of the initial class inducted into the Elizabethtown Area High School Athletics Wall of Honor in 2007.

He was a member of the Elizabethtown Lions Club, Christ Church United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown, and the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge #682 F&A.M. He organized and chaired the committee that created the E-town Boys Club in 1953, with the purpose of re-establishing football below the senior high school level.

He is survived by two sons, Philip Robert Daubert and wife, Gloria, and Stanley G. Daubert, both of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Betty Jane of Bloomsburg, and Alverna "Sissy" Rowe, of West Milton; and one grandson, Jesse G. Daubert.

He is preceded in death by sister, Dolly Daubert; and brother, Robert G. Daubert.
