Jane D. Denny, a resident of St Charles, Missouri, died while visiting Colorado Springs, Colorado on May 15, 2011.
-
She was born in Colorado Springs on November 20, 1923 and was raised in Colorado and Council Bluffs, Iowa. She met her future husband, John, in Salt Lake City during World War II and was married to him after the war in Glenwood Springs, Colorado in 1945.

She and her husband moved frequently during the early part of their marriage, eventually residing in six different states. Along the way, she gave birth to her three children. In each location, she was a stabilizing force, establishing a firm family foundation and providing an opportunity for her children to grow and develop. She was a wonderful mother, always loving and caring and continuously nurturing a strong family relationship.

In 1960, she and her husband moved to Shillington, Pennsylvania, where she lived over forty years. She finished raising her children and then was employed as a school secretary until she retired at the end of 1985.

She and her husband moved to Parkside Retirement Community in St. Charles, Missouri in 2003. She became an active volunteer in the Retirement Community, welcoming newcomers, participating in the Resident Advisory Council, and helping as an enthusiastic spokesperson. She really loved the retirement community and was very proud of its successes.

She was also a passionate member of the PEO Sisterhood throughout most of her life. She attended Cottey College, a PEO-affiliated women's college. While living in Pennsylvania, she rose to the position of State Convention Chairwoman for PEO. She continued her membership wherever she moved including membership in a St. Charles chapter.

She loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She delighted in being with her extended family. How she kept track of everyone's birthday is still a mystery.

Jane was preceded in death by John, her husband of more than 62 years. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Bob (and his wife Colleen), of Colorado Springs, Ed (and his wife Laura) of Marshfield ,Wisconsin and Kathy (and her husband Charles) Holland of Maryland Heights, MO. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parkside Foundation, 2150 West Randolph St, St. Charles, MO 63301. A memorial service will be held at Parkside Meadows Retirement Community at a later date.
